Season 2, Episode 8: Right Back Where We Started From

The Foul Takes a Hike

It doesn't make you happy to see your cousin so upset, but it does make you happy when grandma puts an arm around your shoulder and says, "This was on me, hon — I shouldn't have tried to squeeze Pimento in on you like that. You know me, I'm always trying to help, but she's gone now. Why don't we say goodbye to your old room together? It's okay to let go." And so you give your old room one last look and thank it for holding you safely when you needed it most.

Alone At Last

As you reclaim your space, you feel a rush of relief. Pimento's smoke may linger, but make no mistake, this is a fresh start. This is the beginning of Meryl 2.0.

Sometimes It Takes a Few Tries

You enjoy the feeling having your galley kitchen to yourself again. You pour yourself a cleansing glass of room temperature lemon water to celebrate. Here's to living your best life, take two!

The Big Sleep

You realize what you really need is sleep, and now that you have the space to do it, you get comfy with old Bogie and you sleep like the dead —no sleep aids needed. Your coma awaits. You stretch out and take up all the space on the sofa bed. This is a sleep that will go down in herstory.

It's a Wonderful Day to Say YES

The next day, you lavish in having your bathroom all to yourself again —not a space for sleeping, but a space for getting ready. You put on an outfit that says: Yes, I'm open to receiving the divine flow of abundance!

Affirmation Makes It So

You look in the mirror and say, “I’m allowed to begin again. I’m allowed to reach out. I have value, and the right people will feel it.” You're really hoping that Gene in particular will feel it because you're about to see her for the first time in years.

A Spark To Be Felt Across the Cafe

When you see Gene, it's like no time has passed at all. She's the same familiar soul you once took into your home. Without a thought, you reach across the space that stands between you and pull her into a big hug.

A More Refined Version of Gene

You can tell right away that Gene has done her own inner work. She's calm and present. Her eyes are clear, and her smile shows that she's a woman at peace. "Single life has been good to you!" you say.

Right Back Where We Started From

And so you sit for hours in the cafe laughing and remembering the old days, the characters you met, the strange times you lived through. You can even laugh at the recent changes in your life. What once felt tender and sharp softens as you release it by saying it all out loud. And just like that, you've got a friend again.
